i had the best childhood!

This blog was inspired from the song "Best Days" by Matt White...I really love that song and it gives me that happy feeling whenever i play it on my mp3.. Most of i will post here were about the Best Days of my life...isn't it nice looking back at the happiest yet simplest times of our lives and most of it came from our childhood, right? I hope to inspire readers that you really don't need to spend a fortune just to be happy...

Looking back, i was born in 1982 the earliest time i could remember of my childhood is during my pre-day care years (hehehe!) I remember, whenever my grandfather arrived from a cock fight (sorry sugarol sya noon hehehe!) if it was his lucky day on the cock fight, we would bring something for us (pasalubong) and he will hide it somewhere and he will tell us to go find it upstairs...that was something so wonderful for us during that time when life way back then is so simple...

When i turned 5 years old, i met my very first non-relative friend (because all my playmates then were my cousins) her name is Cheryl or they fondly called her Che-Che or Matet coz she looks-like the former child star Mate de Leon maybe its the forehead or something, hehehe! That's when i begin to explore the world outside our house... we played the usual child games like bahay-bahayan (playing household), taguan (hide and seek), and aral-aralan (school-like game where the elders plays as the teacher and the young ones as the pupils)

At age 6 we started to go to school. My grandparents (because i grew up with them and not with my parents) enrolled me in a public Day Care facility. The school is located in our barangay (town) multi purpose hall. I remember the name of my very first teacher she is Mrs. Fang she then established her own pre-school. I remember during that time the pencil that we use then is the "jumbo black pencil" it's still available at these times for pre-schoolers... I can also recall my favorite baon for recess is the choco wafer in gold tin foil wrapper and a bottle of yakult or zest-O juice drink..hehehe!

As a kid then, i play almost everything you can imagine a child would play on the street during my time. I remember i wake up as early as 7am, my grandfather will ask me for an errand to buy him a newspaper and after taking the usual breakfast (Milo and hot pandesal, hehe!) Me and my playmates will now gather to our favorite meeting place, our sanctuary. During our time, our town was not yet progressive it was like a rural area where tall grasses, trees surrounded our place. I feel lucky to have experienced the laid-back, province-like atmosphere of our town compare to now that it's very crowded, trees were replaced by tall buildings no more grasses and small creeks.. I can fondly recall when me and my friends will go to a creek to catch some tadpoles (butete in tagalog), when we're hungry we would climb the trees of Indian Mangoes, Aratilis (small circular fruit like wild berries), Sampaloc (Tamarind), Kaimito (Star apple?) and a lot more! We were so adventurous during that time that most of the times we ended up being trapped in troubles like we ran after a mad dog, An angry owner of a tree where we climbed would usually throw stones on us then we ran for our lives, hehe! ....to be continue....
